What to Expect from an Abdominal Aortic Ultrasound
A typical ultrasound takes about 30 minutes to complete. The scan begins with you lying on your back on an examination table. A small amount of gel is applied to your abdomen while a handheld transducer will glide over your abdomen to create images of your vessels inside. After the abdominal ultrasound, you can return to your usual routine. Dr. Terzian will discuss your test results later and recommend more screenings or create a customized treatment plan for your condition. If a small aneurysm is detected, our team may recommend frequent screenings to monitor any growth. A large aneurysm will require a referral to a vascular surgeon for repair.
