What to Expect from in-house rapid Testing
Although most rapid tests are greatly accurate, results from a standard test are highly more precise. Rapids tests usually involve the following steps:
- A sample of your body fluid, such as blood, urine, saliva, or nasal secretions is taken.
- A chemical reaction will occur when the sample is mixed with a special substance on a dipstick to show whether a disease or other condition is present. The dipstick is a thin, plastic strip coated with chemicals that will change colors if the test is positive.
- If a rapid test cassette (a small plastic case) is used for the rapid test, a well that holds the sample will indicate a result.
